PBO Lab 2.1 Release
*** Product Discontinued - Replaced by PBO Lab 3.0 ***
AccelSoft is pleased to announce that the PBO Lab 2.1 release
has been upgraded to 3.0. We would like to thank our numerous
users who have offered their feed-back: we have relied on your
input to develop a package that is even more intuitive and user-friendly.
This new release is available to both current and prospective
PBO Lab users. The 2.1 version supported three new PBO Lab Application
Modules which have all been incorporated into version 3.0.
New Modules for PBO Lab 2.1:
- The DECAY-TURTLE Module
allows users the ability to trace both the original (Parent)
particles and two decay products (Daughters) for radioactive
beams. DECAY-TURTLE is a FORTRAN code for simulating the propagation
of charged particles through an accelerator beamline or magnetic
transport system. It is similar to the TURTLE program in many
respects, but includes the additional abilities of particular
interest to modeling radioactive beams. Professional versions
of both the TURTLE and DECAY-TURTLE Application Modules are available.
- The Electrostatic
Palette Module for the TRACE 3-D Module provides a set of
elements for modeling electrostatic lenses and accelerator columns.
The Electrostatic Palette includes a number of options for einzel
lenses, accelerator columns and gaps, electrostatic prisms, and
electrostatic quadrupoles. The electrostatic elements are fully
integrated with all the standard TRACE 3-D Magnet and RF elements.
The electrostatic elements support 2-D continuous0 or 3-D bunched
beam calculations, as well as matching and fitting capabilities.
- The Traveling Wave
Accelerator Palette Module for the TRACE 3-D Module provides
elements for modeling traveling wave accelerators. The Traveling
Wave Palette includes a constant gradient traveling wave accelerator
model and a constant impedance traveling wave accelerator model.
Beam loading (current) effects on the accelerator gradient and
the accelerator structure's beam focusing properties are included
in a self-consistent manner. The traveling wave elements are
fully integrated with the standard elements of TRACE 3-D and
also support matching and fitting.
Standard Features of PBO Lab 2.x:
- PBO Lab 2.x is now available on CD-ROM.
- TRANSPORT, TURTLE, TRACE 3-D, and MARYLIE Application Modules
are now available for this release.
- A new Application Context pop-up menu is used to display
and access application-specific inputs for each of the installed
Application Modules.
- Native inputs for the selected Application Context are indicated
in the Global Parameters and Piece windows with green dots that
appear to the right of a parameter.
- A new button bar in the Document Window allows quick access
to File, Edit, and View commands.
- Users now can import lattice descriptions formatted as MAD,
TRANSPORT, or TRACE 3-D files.
- Comments in the Piece window are displayed as labels for
each Piece in the Model Space and Work Space of the Document
Window.
- A new Alias Piece has been added.
- Pieces can now be moved by holding down the shift key while
dragging a Piece icon. Of course, Pieces may also be copied,
cut, pasted, etc.
- Additional numerical data is displayed and scale adjustments
are now available in the Focusing and Bending Trajectories Modules.
- Graph Windows can be resized, from thumbnail to full screen,
and plot scales can be set directly in the Graph Windows.
Many other features and improvements have been added that are
too numerous to list here.
